  • NEW YORK, May 20, 2023 - In the first session of the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF), author Shahbaz Taseer shares his account of the five-year period he endured while in terrorist captivity. Wajahat S. Khan, noted journalist and senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, moderated the conversation. (47 min., 16 sec.)
The Lahore Literary Festival (LLF), one of South Asia’s premier cultural events, explores contemporary Pakistan through artists, writers, and other experts. The festival presents American audiences with a more nuanced view of Pakistan, with discussions on fiction and nonfiction writing, art, architecture, history, and politics.

He may have his dad's qualities but he went through what his dad didn't. To have survived 5 years of torture at the hands of one of the most notorious terrorists and emerg out of it as better, wiser person with a stronger bond with the omnipotent... few people experience such a thing. God bless.

It wasn't the Taliban that kidnapped him, they were the militants of Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan

39:03 Bro, Bagram Base is in Afghanistan not Iraq. I believe you should’ve known that, considering the fact that you wrote a book about your horrific ordeal. But, that takes nothing out of the fact you survived and are here to tell the tale. Considering the hell on earth you went through for no fault of yours.
The fact that these Uzbek Al Qaeda operatives kidnapped you from Lahore and took you all the way to North Waziristan is mind boggling. What about all the check points on the way ? And intelligence failures on our institutions part. I would’ve imagined there would’ve been check points as soon as they took you out of Punjab province. Yes, once in KPK I guess it was easier to get to your destination, or even crossing border into Afghanistan.

Liars are going to lie, Brother. Our Afghan Taliban didn't kidnap, nor torture him.

Why did Maheen Ghani and Shahbaz Taseer get divorced? This is the burning question everyone wants to know. Maheen waited 5 years for him to return. Yet, at his return he turned to a model which is essentially an undercover name for a prostitute in Pakistan, got pregnant, and then immediately had a nikkah with her a few months prior to Neha giving birth. Now, she's pregnant again but it doesn't seem right because of the injustice he caused his first wife - Maheen...

after Maheen's tweet Neha Rajput also has an ask me on insta and answering this question she mentioned that its rather Maheen who cheated on Shehbaz when he was kidnapped. but again only god knows the truth... besides it seems a little unbelievable for a person who has just been through so so much to cheat on the woman he love i mean he had her tattoo on his wrist and he said he was about to cut wrist and suicide but it stopped him somehow... so all those years he must have loved her...

Compere dresses up here makes him look like a clown and his voice is annoying. He has studied books on the tonality of the voice and is constantly striving to create a voice that sounds artificial. It would be great if he reads this comment and contemplates it.

    He has misunderstood TLP
They dont call themselves religious or maulvis
They call themselves "Ashiqan e Rasool"
It doesnt matter if you hate or see them as fanatics , but mention their origin properly
These people and those that kidnapped you are two very different people with two very different ideas
